Experiencing the loss of a loved one is one of the most challenging and profound moments in life. Lightwell Counselling is a private (fee-paying) counselling service supporting people across Essex through the darkness of bereavement and into the light of recovery.

We understand that grief is a deeply personal journey and are here to guide you every step of the way. Our counselling services provide a compassionate, safe and confidential environment where you can share your feelings, find understanding and begin the healing process.
Our friendly, qualified team are available Monday to Friday and offers bereavement counselling sessions face-to-face, via video link or over the phone – however you feel most comfortable. Lightwell Counselling Service is delivered by Havens Hospices, which provides specialist care and support for people of all ages living with incurable conditions so they can make every day of their life count.
By offering a fee-paying service, we can continue to reach as many people in our community as possible and be there when we are needed most.
Lightwell Counselling is separate from the existing care and support provided by those using Havens Hospices charitable services.

Our private counselling service is open to anyone aged 18 or over living in Essex who is struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one. We use an expert team of qualified staff to deliver our services and help manage the complex emotions around death and dying.
If we are unable to support you through your grief journey, we’ll signpost you to other appropriate serices where possible.
Each one-hour session costs £50.
All profits from Lightwell Counselling Service support Havens Hospices to continue providing its free, specialist care to families across Essex when they need us most.

You can see our team face-to-face at our offices in Southend, online via Teams or over the phone – however you feel most comfortable.
Our offices are based at Fair Havens Hospice, 226 Priory Crescent, Southend on Sea, Essex SS2 6PR. Fair Havens has modern, accessible facilities and ample, free parking.
All profits from Lightwell Counselling will go back into the hospice to help us continue to provide our vital services. We don’t charge a penny for our care – and that’s only possible because of the support of the local community and commercial services like Lightwell Counselling.

You will be allocated a counsellor, who you will see every session.
Yes – all our staff are qualified and professionally registered. Our counsellors are experienced in supporting people following bereavement.
