Local girls set to take the Mini London Marathon to give back to children’s hospice

A 7-year-old supported by a local children’s hospice will lace up her running shoes with her friend for the Mini London Marathon to raise vital funds for the charity.

Chloe Bache, 7, and her friend Amalie Smith, 11, from Rayleigh, will be taking on the Mini London Marathon on Saturday, 26 April 2025, in memory of Chloe’s Dad, Charlie, to raise vital funds for Little Havens Children’s Hospice based in Thundersley.

The girls who dance together at Razzamataz Theatre School, where Chloe’s mum, Charlotte, teaches, decided to take on this challenge in support of Little Havens, having witnessed firsthand the vital care and support they provide. Both Chloe and her mum receive support from the Wellbeing Team at Little Havens. Chloe attends a therapeutic support group called ‘Headspace’ for children who have experienced the death of a loved one. It empowers them to explore the impact of their loss and process their grief through art, mindfulness and play.

Chloe and Amalie’s school, Edward Francis Primary, applied for spaces in the Mini London Marathon. Inspired by her mum, Charlotte, who ran the London Marathon in 2023, Chloe was determined to take part. Fortunately, both her and Amalie were successful in the school’s ballot and each secured a place.

Chloe’s mum, Charlotte, said, “Both girls are super excited about the day, it’s going to be special in so many ways. They are desperate to raise as much money as possible so that Little Havens can continue to care and support families like ours. It is a way for the girls to give back to the charity that has supported me and Chloe.”

Little Havens provides specialist care for babies, children and young people living with complex or incurable conditions from Essex. The hospice also provides wellbeing and bereavement support available to everyone in the family, making sure the right support is there for families, where and when they need it. This care is provided absolutely free of charge, thanks to the support from local people like Chloe and Amalie who fundraise and make donations.
