During his tenure, Steve has led Havens Hospices through a period of significant transformation, including the completion of the £17 million Fair Havens hospice, the expansion of services to support more families, and the challenges of the Covid pandemic. Under his leadership, the charity has strengthened its culture, enhanced its care provision, and continued to make a meaningful impact in the community.
Steve will remain in post until his departure date, which is to be confirmed, ensuring a smooth transition. The charity’s Leadership Team, including its Directors, will continue to oversee operations and strategic planning while an interim plan is implemented.
Liz Mell, Chair of Trustees at Havens Hospices, expressed her gratitude for Steve’s leadership:
“Steve has been an outstanding leader, guiding Havens Hospices through a period of immense change and growth. His passion, dedication, and strategic vision have ensured the charity is in a strong position for the future. Over the years, Steve has built a strong and effective Leadership Team to take forward this legacy.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank Steve for everything he has done for Havens Hospices, and we wish him every success in his new role at St Christopher’s Hospice.”
Steve continues, “I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to all our colleagues, volunteers and supporters who have been integral to the journey and success of Havens Hospices. Their passion and commitment have been vital to the achievements we’ve seen, and I know that this legacy here will continue to thrive long after I’ve moved on.
“Ultimately, I am most proud of how everyone has come together – in every corner of the charity – to enhance and increase the care and services for our local community, reaching more families than ever before at both Fair Havens and Little Havens.”
