Occasional volunteering is a great way to get involved, but on a flexible basis. We are looking for volunteers to help at events and collections, where you decide how much time you would like to offer. If you would like to offer your time, you will be provided with full support and an event briefing so you feel adequately supported to carry out your role.

We’re looking for volunteers to join our Penguin Patrol and help keep our penguins safe! Your role will be to engage with our supporters in this spectacular public art event helping them find their way around plus checking on our penguins and reporting any damages to us .

The Southend Half Marathon is back for another year on Sunday 8th June 2025 and will be raising vital funds for Havens Hospices specialist care and support to families across Essex.
There are various roles available, including Event Set-up Assistant, Event Pack-down Assistant, Route Marshal, Water Station Attendant, Registration Attendant, and Baggage Attendant.

We are looking for volunteers to help us light up the night at Glow for Havens on the 20th September 2025!
Glow for Havens is our NEW neon-filled evening of fun, community, and purpose. Dress in your brightest glow gear and help make a difference for families in need.
We have a range of different event roles including:
Route Marshall – Supporting and encouraging participants, ensuring the safety of participants on route, and guiding them in the right direction. (60)
5pm-9pm (latest)
Registration Assistant – Supporting participants with the sign-up process, collecting their race pack, and assisting with payments. Some may also be on T-Shirt Collection (6)
4:15pm-7pm
Finish Line Assistant – Support with handing out water, medals and cheering participants through the finish funnel. (6)
7pm-9:30pm
Car Park Assistant – Directing and placing cars in an organised manor. Ensuring traffic is managed efficiently. (6)
4pm-6:30pm and/or 7:30pm-10pm
General Set-Up Assistant – Could include supporting set up of event village, supporting set up of finish funnel, and/or general tasks. (5)
3pm-6pm
